Is the world
aware of Darfur?
Stefan Weyrauch, Johnson & Wales University, Florida
NORTH MIAMI, Dec. 6 _ With at least 190,000
innocent citizens killed and 2.5 million people driven from their homes, the Darfur crisis is one of the most cruel incidents
since the Holocaust on the Jews during the second World War. The genocide in western Sudan is still being overseen
by many international political leaders and governments as well as by most western citizens. China even repeatedly acted as
protector of the Sudanese regime in the United Nations. Primarily because China is Sudan's largest customer for oil and one
of its largest supplier for arms, the Chinese government and its representatives forced the U.S. and other members of the
Security Council to weaken sanctions against the regime in Sudan several times. For this reason, convincing Chinese
politicians and representatives in the UN security council seems to be one major step toward peace in the suffering Darfur
region. Several letters have been sent to American President Bush before his Asia trip by several evangelicals leaders and
faith groups all over the world to urge the Chinese president to take actions against the ongoing genocide instead of supporting
it. The entire world must start to recognize what is going on in some spots of the globe. It seems like too many people
all over the world did not yet realize what is happening in those regions of crisis every single day and what innocent people
have to endure. For almost two years do people in Sudan live in fear and pain and some civilized countries and their politicians
just don't want to deal with it All of us, who life in better conditions than the Sudanese people and those who are representing
our countries have to take action and stop watching these horrible crimes against humanity as soon as possible. The
cruelty is happening in front of our eyes and we should not make the same mistakes we made other generations responsible for.

Helping out after Katrina
By Marie, 14, Texas
TEXAS,
Sept. 16 _ While there are times that I wonder about this generation and what we're coming to, there are times when I'm honestly
proud of us. Some of my friends and I had a bake sale and raised almost $900 for Hurricane Relief Funds. At school, we interviewed
some of the victims who had relocated to our area to find out what items they and their families needed. [more]
A high
school hotbed of teen pregnancy
By Ada Calhoun, Nerve.com.
OHIO, Sept. 9 _ This week, I went back to Northern
Ohio for the first time in many years, to see if I could figure out what was going on at Timken Senior High School, where
64 of the 490 female students are pregnant. The numbers were teeming with potential: male students impregnating for sport,
girls in a pregnancy cult, fertility drugs in the water. The principal announced that she had "no idea" what had contributed
to the extremely high teen-pregnancy rate at her school. "Maybe that's part of the problem," dozens of bloggers snickered.
"Maybe those teen girls could show her." [more]
Don't criticize depressed people
"While I totally understand
and agree with what Christy said regarding the unfortunate people who were affected by Katrina, there's one thing that bothered
me. People who are suicidal or depressed do not chose to become that way. They have chemical imbalances in their brains. They
are just as innocent as those who were affected by Katrina [more]

there are people trying to fill it back up, but from how deep and how many times it's been dug into, it just cant be filled
back up all the way.[more]

Tamil Nadu, INDIA, Aug. 7 _ Selfishness is the first stranger & this forces human beings to do
mistakes & sins. I experienced it many times & I tried to correct them but all in vain. So I thought to myself, I should try
to create awareness for this. These thoughts are my first step against selfishness and I'm happy. Nowadays money make human
beings to do anything.[more]
